A number of years ago, Mount Baker Bike Club worked with partners to locate and fund a pedicab for use by the YMCA to get folks out and about enjoying bike adventures.
After some initial use, people came and went, global events disrupted our lives, and the pedicab project faded away. The great folks at
Fanatik Bike continued to store the pedicab for a brighter tomorrow.
The Board of the MBBC started poking around last year to verify the pedicab's condition, whereabouts, and plans for use. After some chats with the folks at the YMCA - who are the owners of the pedicab, we found a group in town who could make immediate and ongoing use of it.
On the last day of January 2025, April Katz, Executive Director of the
Airow Project, loaded up what was formerly the YMCA's pedicab to start its new role in adaptive and inclusive recreation. We believe it could not be in better hands and can't wait to see April's future pix of happy faces while riding.
Thanks again to Sanitary Services Corporation and you - our members - for the original donations to help the YMCA purchase the pedicab, and to Fanatik for the international shipping, assembly, basic maintenance and most importantly safe, dry storage for years. You are all so appreciated!
Three cheers to the pedicab's new adventures in the City of Subdued Excitement!
